Thank you so much for visiting my site! I hope you enjoy my photos.
If I had to choose one word to describe my affinity for photography, it would be “Love.” I absolutely love picking up a camera and capturing precious moments.
My career as a photographer began at a small newspaper, The Review Appeal, in Franklin, Tennessee in 1988. I hand processed as many as 30 rolls of black and white {Tri-X} film for every issue we published. I started off as a darkroom tech and created a photography department that grew to three during my tenure that lasted eight years. I won 14 University of Tennessee Press Awards during that time.
In 1998, I started freelancing for the Tennessean Newspaper. This was very different. The level of competition between the staff photographers was incredible. But I also saw first-hand people nurture each other like I had never seen before. I know for me, their nurturing enabled me to become a better photographer than I could have imagined. I was blessed to freelance for the Tennessean Newspaper for 10 years.
Many publications (the Celebrities Gallery was shot for TV Guide) have trusted me to capture the most important moments of an event and I would be honored for the privilege to capture your most important moments.
Thank you,
Michael Clancy
